PowerPC Gateway ECU Platform (MPC5748G LCEVP)

Automotive-grade gateway ECU on NXP MPC5748G with CAN, LIN, and debug integration—message routing and cross-network bridging under real automotive constraints.

Embedded & Automotive Communication Gateway in Action

Automotive-grade gateway ECU implementation built on the NXP MPC5748G PowerPC platform (LCEVP), demonstrating real multi-network communication across CAN, LIN, and debug interfaces.

This project showcases ECU gateway behavior including message routing, signal bridging, and cross-network communication handling under realistic automotive constraints.

Technical Overview

The system is designed around a multi-core PowerPC architecture targeting automotive gateway applications.

It integrates CAN/CAN FD communication via PCAN interfaces, LIN network handling, and low-level ECU debug access for system bring-up and validation.

The implementation focuses on deterministic message routing, inter-network translation, and ECU-level integration challenges typically found in production gateway ECUs within OEM and Tier-1 architectures.

Key focus areas include real-time message handling, network synchronization, and validation of communication integrity across heterogeneous automotive buses.

What This Demonstrates

  • Multi-network ECU gateway design (CAN + LIN)
  • Real-time message routing and signal bridging
  • PowerPC-based automotive ECU development
  • Low-level ECU bring-up and debugging workflow
  • Production-style integration and validation approach
